Vassi was looking through his spellbinder book again. With a flip of his hand, a table suddenly turned over. The mage smiled widely.
"Yes!" he cheered. "I've done it! I've learned the manipulation technique!"
Reading further, he adds to his statement as he snaps the book shut, "On inanimate objects, that is. I cannot do anything to animals or people. But... perhaps that is best. I'd hate to fall prey to lust for power by learning that..."
It was then, a knock came to the door. A rather fast knock at that. Vassi looked over at the door and it was then a small voice pleaded, "Vassiiiii~! May I come in, please?" Vassi's eyes softened for he knew the owner of the voice and she sounded upset. He didn't reply to her in words, instead he opened the door. There, he found Princess Serenity with teary eyes and a marionette in her arms.
"Goodness, Your Highness! Whatever is the matter?" he asks, stepping aside to let her in.
"My princess doll," Serenity sniffled. "She's broken. We were playing, and her strings broke."
"Oh, there, there... here, dry your eyes," Vassi kneels to her to give her a handkerchief.
"Thank-oo," she replied, accepting the cloth.
"Now... Who's 'we'?" Vassi inquired.
"Raphy, Acro and me," she answers, wiping her eyes. "But now she can't dance anymore."
"Aww... But, if I may ask, how come you've come here? I'm a mage, not a puppeteer."
"I thought maybe..." she begins shyly. "Maybe... you could make her all better.... Can you Vassi~? Pleeeaaase~?"
"Hmm... mending strings isn't exactly my specialty..." Vassi frowns, taking the doll into his arms. Serenity looked like she might cry at hearing that. But suddenly the mage grins, "But that's not to say she can't dance again."
Serenity looked confused, but Vassi rested the doll on his shoulder as he looked through his book once again. This didn't take long, for it was not even a minute before he shut the book and placed it on a small table. He hopped onto a short couch, laying back and looking at the doll. He soon tossed it into the air, as if casting it aside. Serenity gasped out loud. She rushed to try and catch it, but instead of just falling to the floor, she began to spin in a ballerina fashion. This made the princess stop and look. Her doll landed on her feet and bowed to the princess. Then she began to dance. The crossed wood panels stayed in the air as the puppet began to make her own movements. Vassi was controlling the doll herself. He might not have gotten to fixing the strings, but at least it proved that this couldn't keep the doll's joyous dance from coming into life.
